Hit your Putts in the Sweet Spot

Hit your Putts in the Sweet SpotA great way to help you hit your putts in the sweet spot of your putter is to use 2 adhesive bandages on the face as a training aid.  Place the bandages on the face of your putter so that the soft pads are laying down the front of the face.  Leave about a one-inch space near the center of your putter.  In practice, stroke putts of about six feet in length.  If you strike the ball in the center, the putt will roll normally to the hole.  If, however, you hit the bandage pads, your ball will roll weakly.  Keep practicing until you can hit the center of your putter face almost every time.

Buying a Home to Live

Buying a Home to Live

Billionaire money manager John Paulson believes buying a home to live in is the best investment possible. “I still think, from an individual perspective, the best investment you can make is to buy a primary residence that you’re the owner-occupier of,” Paulson said Wednesday at the Delivering Alpha conference presented by CNBC and Institutional Investor.

“Today financing costs are extraordinarily low. You can get a 30-year mortgage somewhere around 4.5 percent. And if you put down, let’s say, 10 percent and the house is up 5 percent, which is the latest data, then you would be up 50 percent on your investment,” hedge fund manager Paulson explained. “And you’ve locked in the cost over the next 30 years. And today the cost of owning is somewhat less than the cost of renting. And if you rent, the rent goes up every year. But if you buy a 30-year mortgage, the cost is fixed.”   Click HERE to listen to the interview.

Ball is Below your Feet

ball is below your feetWhat do you do when the ball is below your feet?  You should be aware of what goes into the shot.  First of all, the ball is farther away from you than with a normal stance, so you must widen your stance and flex your knees to get to the ball.  Gravity wants to pull you toward the ball when you swing, so you must remain still and stable during the shot.  Your club head will not square up to your line, so you should aim well left of your target. Make these slight adjustments when the ball is below your feet and you will improve your scores.

Marco Island Ranked in Top 10

Marco Island

Marco Island Ranked in Top 10

Marco Island has been ranked as one of the top 10 destinations for vacation rentals by Trip Advisor.  Results are based upon a study that compared average review scores for vacation rentals by U.S. region from 2014. Marco Island was one of six Florida destinations to make the list, with a score of 4.66 out of five.  The island is just a short 35 minute drive south of downtown Naples. Known for it’s beaches, Marco’s Tigertail Beach is located on 32 acres of land and is known as one of the best all-around birding locations in southwest Florida.

Island Country Club is the only 18 golf course located on Marco Island. The Championship layout of our course is a challenging yet fair test for any golfer. From your first tee shot to your last, you will enjoy beautifully sculpted and very generous fairways leading you to spacious greens surrounded by “Florida White” bunkers.

After the club became private, in 1986, it has undergone multiple renovations.  The latest renovation was just completed by golf course architect Kipp Schulties and RyanGolf Construction.  They completely renovated the course, which had been relatively flat. While the course layout was kept, it was raised which created undulations, elevations, and vistas. Also, The new course was lengthened to 6,852 yards and the greens were enlarged to over 7,000 square feet.

The original designer was Dave Wallace, a highly respected golf course architect, designed the original course at Island in 1966. It was redesigned in 1991 by the “Squire” himself, Gene Sarazen. Then again the club updated the course with well known designer Gordon Lewis.  Kipp Schulties is now put his touch on the course. Learn more about the Island Club…

Practicing Around the Green

Practicing around the greenUse your own equipment when practicing around the green.  Whether your putting, chipping or pitching, always use the same type of golf balls that you use on the golf course.  Range balls are hard and often out of round.  You will not learn the proper trajectory, feel, spin, and roll that is so important to your short game by using them.  Make a shag bag of good balls that you accumulate after playing with them and set them aside for your short-game practice. You will improve your game if you are using the same equipment you use on the course when you are practicing around the green.
