Stock Development is hosting the Grand Opening of a new boating community today.  Hidden Harbor is located in South Fort Myers with homes starting in the $500,000 price range.  The grand opening will start at noon and run until 4 p.m. There will be food and music, and activities themed around the community’s waterfront lifestyle.

Hidden Harbor  is an exclusive community offering direct access to the Gulf of Mexico.  The community will have 76 estate homes almost all of which will provide access to the Gulf via the Ten Mile Canal and Estero Bay.

Avoid a left-to-right putt.  A common mistake for right-hand golfers is to cut the ball when making a left-to-right breaking putt.  It is a common tendency to do this, but the cut spin will make the ball come up short and roll to the right of the hole.  When you are putting, pick an aiming point to the left of the hole and strike the ball as if you were hitting it dead straight.  Let the slope turn your ball and not the cut that you place on it with your putter face.  Be careful not to open your stance too much to the left; this encourages a cut stroke.

Foreclosures Down in May

Were foreclosures down in May? According to the May 2015 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report by RealtyTrac, foreclosure activity decreased in Lee County to 603 housing units, down 15.19 percent (711 units) from April, but up 9.24 percent (552 units) from May 2014. Collier County foreclosure activity totaled 179 housing units, down 8.21 percent  (195 units) from April, but up 29.71 percent (138 units) from May 2014. Florida was among 38 states to report a year-over-year increase in real estate owned properties (up 63 percent). The state also had the nation’s highest foreclosure rate for the third consecutive month, with one in every 409 houses with a foreclosure filing.

According to data released by Florida Realtors Lee County sales remain strong.  The median sales price of single-family homes has increased 11.4 percent compared to this same time last year. The median sale price for condos in Lee County increased 11.8 percent in May compared to May of 2014. There was also a significant jump in the number of closed sales in the $400,000-$599,999 price point.  The report showed a 25 percent increase over May of last year. The number of days single-family homes were on the market decreased 11.1 percent during the same time period.  The median days on market has fallen to 40 days.  For more information, visit swflrealtors.com.
