Finding the Right Southwest Florida Home Sometimes Means Changing Course
One of the most important parts of buying a home in Southwest Florida is knowing when to adjust the search.
We’re excited to share that we recently helped our buyers go under contract on a beautiful single-family pool home in Arborwood Preserve in Fort Myers. The home offers 2 bedrooms plus a den, 2 baths, approximately 1,904 square feet of living space, and a private pool overlooking the water.
But this buyer success story didn’t follow the path we originally expected.
The Search Started With a Golf Community
When our clients began their Southwest Florida home search, their plan was to purchase in a golf community. We started by focusing on communities and properties that would give them the golf lifestyle they initially envisioned.
Then, unforeseen circumstances changed what made sense for them.
Rather than trying to force the original plan to work, we pivoted. The goal became finding the best home and lifestyle for their new circumstances, even if that meant moving away from a golf community.
That opened the door to a much broader range of possibilities.
From Condos to a Single-Family Home
We toured several non-golf communities and considered different types of properties. As the search progressed, one thing became increasingly clear: a condo wasn’t going to give our buyers the lifestyle they wanted.
They wanted more space. They wanted privacy. And perhaps most importantly, they wanted their own outdoor living area and private swimming pool.
That realization helped us narrow the search considerably. Instead of simply looking for a property outside a golf community, we could focus on finding a single-family home with a pool in an amenity-rich community.
That ultimately led us to Arborwood Preserve.
Why Arborwood Preserve Made Sense
Arborwood Preserve offered an appealing alternative to the golf-community lifestyle our buyers initially had in mind.
The gated Fort Myers community provides a resort-style environment with a clubhouse and restaurant, community pool and spa, fitness center, tennis, pickleball, and bocce, along with other recreational amenities.
For our buyers, it offered the chance to enjoy an active Southwest Florida lifestyle without having to purchase in a golf community.
And then there was the home itself.
Built in 2017 and meticulously maintained by its original owners, the residence features a custom heated saltwater pool with double fountains, in-pool seating and a picture-window screened lanai overlooking the water.
It delivered exactly what had become most important during their search: more space, a single-family home, a private pool and an attractive community lifestyle.
